ENGAGING IRISH AID FELLOWS
The Ireland Fellows Programme, one of Irish Aid’s most longstanding programmes, reflects Ireland’s view that education is central to creating a better world – a view shared by SeeBeyondBorders.
Impact on Cambodian Education
In recent years, the Ireland Fellows Programme, which offers people from around the world the opportunity to spend a year studying at universities and higher education institutions in Ireland, has seen an increasing number of Cambodian people participate.
The Programme has also made a significant impact on SeeBeyondBorders’ work to empower teachers and school leaders to drive the improvement of teaching and learning in Cambodian schools. SBB’s Managing Director, Pov Pheung, is a Programme Alumni, with other Alumni having gone into leadership roles within SBB’s staff and Board.
SeeBeyondBorders promotes the Programme and supports people in Cambodia to apply; provides pre-departure information about living in Ireland to Fellows; and has ongoing engagement with Cambodian Fellows studying in Ireland and following return to Cambodia.
